Manchester United are on the cusp of selling Marcus Rashford to Barcelona, who have been convinced by the player’s performances this season.

The England international was one of the biggest stars at the club over the past decade, but he became an outcast at Carrington during Ruben Amorim’s reign. This prompted a loan move to Aston Villa in January 2025, following a transfer to Barcelona last summer.

The 28-year-old joined the Catalan giants on an initial loan deal with an option to buy for €30 million.

Barcelona set to buy Marcus Rashford from Man Utd

In recent days, it has been suggested that Carrick would be happy to welcome Rashford back to Man Utd. Nevertheless, the 44-year-old’s own future at Old Trafford remains uncertain despite enjoying a tremendous start to his managerial stint.

Moreover, Rashford had long identified Barcelona as his dream destination, and he has no desire to cut his Camp Nou stint short.

Luckily for the versatile striker, the Blaugrana have seemingly made up their mind, deciding to sign the player on a permanent basis.

As Sport explains, the Barcelona directors have enquired about several forwards, but they’re now convinced that Rashford represents the most ‘sensible’ option.

The Catalan source reveals that Barca were repelled by AC Milan’s €100 million asking price for Rafael Leao, and they also noticed how a relatively unaccomplished winger like Antoine Semenyo cost Man City £62.5 million.

Therefore, buying Rashford for €30 million is considered a bargain compared to the figures spent on other forwards across Europe. The report expects the LaLiga giants to try to drive the price down in their negotiations with Man Utd, but they wouldn’t mind meeting the original price if necessary.

Rashford’s agents met with Barcelona on Monday

Sport also posted a picture of the player’s agents arriving at the club’s headquarters on Monday before a meeting with Barcelona sporting director, Deco, who has been convinced by the Englishman’s ‘impeccable’ displays.

Rashford wasn’t Barca’s first choice last summer, as the club only turned to him after missing out on Nico Williams.

Nevertheless, the Man Utd academy product has been delivering the goods on the pitch, doing his best to make up for Raphinha’s recurring absences.
