Man Utd set to make move for Mateus Fernandes | OneFootball

Manchester United are expected to make a move for West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes shortly according to reports.

The Hammers' relegation was confirmed on the final day of the Premier League season which means the London club will need to raise funds by selling players before they can construct a squad to help them escape the Championship next season.

One of those players who is expected to leave is Mateus Fernandes with several clubs keen on the 21-year-old including Manchester United who are looking to refresh their midfield with Casemiro leaving the club and the expected departure of Manuel Ugarte.

According to journalist Pete Hall of The i Paper, the club will move for Fernandes 'in the coming weeks' with the former Southampton and Sporting player said to favour a move to the Red Devils.

Should the move go through, Fernandes would likely be United's second midfield signing of the summer with a move for Atalanta's Éderson at an advanced stage.
