Manchester United might be hellbent on selling Marcus Rashford this summer, but they aren’t willing to give Barcelona any favours.

The 27-year-old has already begun his preparations for next season, despite being omitted from Ruben Amorim’s plans. Rashford and four of his teammates have asked to leave the club after being deemed surplus to requirements.

This was hardly a surprise given how the Manchester native had been ostracised by the Portuguese manager last December, which prompted his January exit.

Rashford signed for Aston Villa on a six-month loan deal, but despite his positive showings, the Birmingham-based club opted against keeping him on a permanent basis, mostly because they missed out on Champions League prize money next season.

Nevertheless, the versatile striker wasn’t distraught by the snub, as this might pave the way for his dream Barcelona move.

Will Marcus Rashford finally fulfil his Barca dream

According to GiveMeSport journalists Danny Rust and Ben Jacobs, Rashford is getting increasingly closer to the exit door, but Man Utd are keen to offload him as soon as possible.

And yet, the Red Devils aren’t willing to accept any low-ball offers. On the contrary, INEOS had been very attentive to Barca’s negotiations with Athletic Club for Nico Williams.

The Blaugrana were keen to sign the Euro 2024 winner whom they had identified as their No.1 target to bolster the left wing. However, they failed to reach an agreement with the player’s entourage on personal terms, so the Spaniard ended up signing a 10-year contract with his current employers.

This botched transfer offered a major boost for Rashford, who is now a strong candidate to sign for the Catalan giants.

Man Utd’s two conditions to send Rashford to Barcelona

GMS reveals that United have set two key conditions, and they aren’t willing to drop chance stance. First, they will insist on their £40 million price tag. After all, Barcelona were willing to buy Williams for £50 million, which means they possess the necessary funds to seal the deal.

Second, Man Utd aren’t willing to accept another loan move, as they remain keen on agreeing a permanent transfer that would take Rashford off their book once and for all, and yield pure capital gains.

Given Barcelona’s dire financial situation and their infamous FFP troubles, this transfer saga could drag on all summer, much to United’s dismay.
