Manchester United are reportedly keen on bolstering their midfield before the summer transfer window closes in a few days. The Red Devils are keen on Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte, but one outlet notes four players they should pursue as last-minute alternatives.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reported on Tuesday that PSG are open to the idea of loaning Ugarte to Manchester United with an obligation to buy. Ugarte is keen on making the move to United and has already settled on personal terms.

While the discussions are progressing smoothly, PSG isn’t rushing things and is willing to extend negotiations into next week if needed. As a result, the Premier League side could have alternative targets should this pursuit finally fall through.

The Express spotlighted four players that the English side should pursue if Ugarte becomes too rich for them to pursue. The outlet notes that Sofyan Amrabat, Leon Goretzka, Richard Rios, and Adrien Rabiot should be on Manchester United’s radar.

Goretzka and Rabiot are the two high-profile names, considering the clubs they played for last season. Goretzka has reportedly been told he is not in Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany’s first-team plans, so he should be available for a reasonable transfer fee.

As for Rabiot, the Frenchman is still a free agent after leaving Juventus at the end of June. If he remains without a contract as the transfer deadline looms, Manchester United could attempt to sign him.
