Manchester United are now unable to add to their squad following last night’s 11pm cutoff – but could still sanction more outgoings due to Turkey’s extended deadline.

Indeed, the Super Lig window opened on January 13 and closes on February 11, meaning there will still be movement from a host of clubs looking to offload the players they’ve deemed surplus to requirements.

For the Red Devils, Altay Bayindir previously fell under that category, to the point where he was widely expected to complete a move away in January due to him growing frustrated at playing second-fiddle to Andre Onana.

That was until he oversaw a stellar display against Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup; during the fiery tie at the Emirates, he denied Martin Odegaard from the spot in regular time before saving Kai Havertz’s effort in the penalty shootout, therefore playing a vital role in the Reds progressing to the next stage of the competition.

When analysing the night’s affairs, Alan Shearer hailed Bayindir’s performance as ‘absolutely outstanding’ – and you’d struggle to find many that could dispute the sentiment.

The 26-year-old has made a total of four appearances under Ruben Amorim, which he’ll undoubtedly appreciate after making only two during Erik ten Hag’s reign. Yet, you couldn’t really blame him for pursuing a new venture elsewhere – primarily one that could see him become a side’s No.1.

Star, a Turkish newspaper, has claimed the shot-stopper is eyeing a return to his native country following his Fenerbahce exit in 2023. This time, however, he’d be joining his former arch-rivals Galatasaray, who’ve shortlisted Bayindir as a replacement for the soon-to-be-departing Fernando Musler, 38, ahead of his expected exit next season.

Bayindir is said to have set his sights on becoming his national team’s first choice between the sticks but acknowledges he can only do so with increased game time under his belt.

Galatasaray have yet to submit a formal offer.
