Ruben Amorim has seemingly lost faith in Patrick Dorgu, despite pushing for his arrival this time last year.
In the build-up to Manchester United’s clash with Crystal Palace over the weekend, the Portuguese issued a concerning verdict over Dorgu’s form, revealing that he ‘felt anxious’ every time he was on the ball.

“He (Dorgu) needs to be calmer playing the game. You can feel the anxiety every time Patrick touches the ball. I can feel the anxiety. You remember the shot against Everton,” Amorim told journalist Steven Railston.
Then, when United’s line-up was revealed before kick-off, the Danish full-back had been omitted from the starting XI for the first time in two matches.
He would go on to feature in the very closing stages of the contest, being introduced to the fold at the same time as out-of-favour teammate Kobbie Mainoo in stoppage time to make just a minute cameo.
Given the Reds got the win in Dorgu’s absence, it could well have convinced Amorim that his team performs better with alternative options deployed in the wing-back roles.

From the 21-year-old’s perspective, he’ll likely be concerned that he is now destined for the same fate as Mainoo, who faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford amid his heavily reduced role since the term got underway.
Mainoo is still awaiting his first Premier League start of 2025/2026 and has accumulated only 171 minutes of playing time through his nine appearances.
It’s thought he would like to seal a winter loan move to increase his game time elsewhere, although reports have suggested United chiefs will step in to block the move.
