Man Utd still pushing to buy ‘unhappy’ star who is keen to leave EPL club

Manchester United remain hell-bent on signing Lewis Hall, even though Newcastle have no desire to part ways with the player.

After buying Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans last month, INEOS put their midfield overhaul on hold, turning their attention towards the left-back role.

Luke Shaw is currently the only natural choice for the position, as Michael Carrick has been using Patrick Dorgu exclusively as a winger, while the young Harry Amass has been placed on the transfer list.

Lewis Hall remains Man Utd’s first target

Since the start of the summer, United have identified Hall as their primary target for the left-back role.

At the age of 21, the Chelsea youth product has already accumulated important experience at the top level. Therefore, he should be capable of taking some of the burden off Luke Shaw’s shoulders before eventually replacing his 31-year-old compatriot as the club’s first choice.

However, Newcastle have recently told off Man Utd, insisting that Hall isn’t for sale, not even for £60 million.

The Magpies have already collected £260 million this summer by offloading three key players in Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali, and Bruno Guimaraes, so they’re no longer interested in selling other prized assets.

But according to The Sun journalist Samuel Luckhurst, Newcastle’s stance hasn’t completely tamed Man Utd’s ambitions, as the Red Devils still consider Hall their top target, despite being offered Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly.

The source adds that the young full-back is also keen to leave St. James’ Park this summer. Hall was reported to be ‘unhappy’ and ‘unsettled’ by the end of the previous campaign, and Luckhurst insists that this remains the case despite Eddie Howe’s departure and the subsequent appointment of Matthias Jaissle as Newcastle’s new head coach.

Why Hall to Man United remains a complicated deal

Even though Man Utd want Hall and the feeling is reciprocal, Newcastle are the ones holding the cards, as they have the player under contract until June 2029.

Ideally speaking, no club would want to retain a player who no longer wants to play for them. But in this case, nothing suggests that the young Englishman’s desire to leave is strong enough to cause a stir or prompt a show of defiance.

Therefore, if diplomatic means fail to sway the Geordies, then we can expect Hall to play his football at St. James’ Park next season.

While United shouldn’t necessarily raise the white flag just yet, perhaps it’s time to start opening up to alternative solutions so they don’t get caught short during the final days of the summer transfer market.
