The French club also faced Premier League teams in other high-profile matches, including the FIFA Club World Cup final against Chelsea and the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham Hotspur. Consistent exposure to English opponents could make PSG an attractive option for Premier League players considering a move abroad.
Although the 2026 summer transfer window is still several months away, European clubs are already assessing potential targets. PSG are expected to focus on Premier League midfielders as they look to strengthen their squad, though competition for those players will be intense.
TBR Football recently reported that Crystal Palace acknowledges keeping Adam Wharton long-term may be tough but is exploring a new deal to extend his contract through 2027.
Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United are all closely monitoring Wharton, keeping a sharp eye on his progress, according to the report.
If Wharton chooses to move on, interest from abroad is likely to be strong, with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and PSG all reportedly monitoring the talented young playmaker closely.

Amidst the ongoing rumors concerning Wharton, TEAMtalk’s Steve Pearson shared his thoughts on where the midfielder should head if the player decides to leave after the 2025-26 season.
“If Wharton is the type of man who doesn’t look beyond Tuesday, the answer is Liverpool,” Pearson wrote. “If he’s more forward-thinking – and everything we’ve seen so far suggests he’s an old head on young shoulders – then it really is a no-brainer, join Manchester United.
“Wharton is already a fine player but at 21, he’s not close to hitting his ceiling. To ensure his development continues at a rapid rate, and to ensure he can go from Premier League star to world-class superstar, he MUST play 90 minutes, week in, week out. That cannot happen at Anfield, given the presence of Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister.”
