Erik ten Hag is beginning to work his magic in Manchester, with United currently sitting in fifth place as we near the resumption of the Premier League.

The January transfer window could prove crucial to Ten Hag’s first season in English football.

A replacement is needed for Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club by mutual consent on the eve of the 2022 World Cup.

One man who keeps being touted to fill the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s boots in PSV and Holland star, Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo was electric at the Qatar World Cup, scoring three goals in the Dutch’s run to the quarter-finals. According to talkSPORT, PSV would listen to offers of around £45 million for the player in January.

That sounds like a cracking deal, especially when you remember the versatile forward is only 23 years of age.

So what are the chances of United getting a deal for Gakpo over the line at the start of 2023? Well, no one knows for sure, but Ten Hag’s reaction when questioned about his fellow countryman in a recent press conference said a lot.

The Red Devils boss was asked about Gakpo’s World Cup impact and he just couldn’t resist breaking into a cheeky grin.

Needless to say, United fans now think the superstar in the making is Old Trafford bound…

If United manage to bring him in before the close of the January window, their forward line will look a terrifying proposition on paper.
