The January transfer window will provide Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim with his first real opportunity to mold the team to align with his vision.
However, the most significant changes are expected to happen next summer, as Amorim reportedly monitors a Paris Saint-Germain player who might be open to a departure.
Last summer, United signed Manuel Ugarte from PSG, and the midfielder is now thriving under Amorim’s guidance. Despite this, the Portuguese coach is said to be eyeing another former Sporting Lisbon player currently with PSG.
Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg recently reported that Manchester United remains highly interested in Nuno Mendes, who is under contract with the Ligue 1 champions until 2026.
While PSG is eager to secure a contract extension, Mendes is in no rush to commit, especially with interest from several top clubs.

According to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins, Mendes wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain, with contract extension talks at a complete standstill. He has rejected the club’s offers, feeling the proposed wages don’t reflect his status as a starting player.
Now, the left-back is exploring options elsewhere, with Manchester United already making an offer that has piqued his interest.
He’s also drawing attention from other top clubs. Despite the tense relationship between Mendes and PSG, the Ligue 1 leaders remain adamant that they won’t sell him this January and are still pushing for an extension.
CaughtOffside reported this week, citing sources, that Manchester United remain interested in Mendes. The report suggests he is pleased with the club’s interest following discussions with his representatives.
Should Mendes fail to agree to a contract extension with PSG, the Ligue 1 club is expected to consider offers in the region of €70 million during the summer transfer window.
