Here are the City player ratings as Manchester City began their 2026-27 UEFA Champions League campaign with a 2-0 win over FC Porto. A second half brace from Erling Haaland wrapped up all three points for Enzo Maresca’s side. However, City didn’t have it all their own in the second half and they showed plenty of character to leave the Estádio do Dragão with an impressive win.

Gianluigi Donnarumma-5/10: A nervous display from Donnarumma. City’s offside trap prevented him from giving away a penalty. He almost gave away a goal with a poor clearance as well.

Matheus Nunes-7.5/10: A solid display at right-back from Nunes. Manchester City are a better team with him at right-back.

Ruben Dias-8.5/10: I thought Dias was brilliant alongside Marc Guehi. A proper captains display.

Marc Guehi-9/10: Alongside Erling Haaland, Guehi was City’s man-of-the-match in my opinion. He was strong at the back and never put a foot wrong.

Josko Gvardiol-6.5/10: The Croatian international was good in possession however he was locked in a battle with FC Porto’s hard-working winger William Gomes. Gvardiol was taken off just after halftime after being booked in the first half.

Ayyoub Bouaddi-7.5/10: An impressive first start from the Moroccan midfielder. He was City’s best player in the first half before his influence waned as the second half became stretched. An impressive overall display from Bouaddi.

Enzo Fernandez-7.5/10: His influence grew as the game wore on. He picked up his first assist for Manchester City and as the game became feisty he grew into it.

Rayan Cherki-6.5/10: There were flashes of quality shown by Cherki and his ability to keep the ball in play with his close control set up City’s opening goal. However, on other occasions he dwelled on the ball for too long and lost possession.

Phil Foden-7.5/10: An impressive performance on the right from Foden. He was lively throughout and it was his surging run and ball that set up Haaland’s opening goal. Foden is beginning to come to life which is pleasing to see.

Antoine Semenyo-8/10: I liked Semenyo’s game on the left wing. He created several good chances and was a constant threat to the FC Porto defence.

Erling Haaland-9/10: Simply put, Haaland was the match-winner for Manchester City. His brace was brilliant and he put a tough first half in front of goal behind him to bag a superb brace.

Substitutes

Abdukodir Khusanov-6/10: He slotted in at left-back and did what he had to do.

Elliot Anderson-6.5/10: Another busy display in midfield from Anderson after coming on.

Iliman Ndiaye-6.5/10: The Senegalese international was lively after coming off the bench. You can see how dangerous he will become for Manchester City in time.

Mateo Kovacic-7/10: The Croatian midfielder added exactly what his team needed after coming on. He won back possession to set up Haaland’s second goal which was fantastic.

Rayan Ait-Nouri-7/10: Ait-Nouri grabbed an assist and was very good on the left wing. There is a role for the Algerian international in Maresca’s squad as he showed tonight.
