Manchester City and Newcastle United have confirmed their starting lineups ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg tie at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s side hold a 2-0 aggregate lead after a professional performance and victory in the first-leg at St. James’ Park. City will be eager to book their place in the final against Arsenal, although Newcastle, despite having several key players unavailable, will be eager to cause a famous upset in their defence of the trophy they won last year. Here are the two teams’ starting lineups for tonight’s match.
Manchester City enter tonight’s match with several players unavailable due to injury. John Stones, Mateo Kovacic, Jeremy Doku and Savinho are all ruled out of tonight’s match. Rayan Cherki’s fitness was being monitored after the French international sustained a knock in his team’s 2-all draw with Tottenham. Ruben Dias returned to training this week but it would seem to be unlikely that he will start tonight’s match. Marc Guehi in ineligible to play in the remainder of Manchester City’s Carabao Cup campaign.
Pep Guardiola has made six changes to the starting lineup that drew with Tottenham. In comes James Trafford, Nathan Ake, Nico, Phil Foden, Tijjani Reijnders and Omar Marmoush. Gianluigi Donnarumma, Rodri, Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland drop to the bench for tonight’s match. Bernardo Silva isn’t in Manchester City’s squad for tonight’s match. Marc Guehi also comes out of Manchester City’s starting lineup due to the fact that he is ineligible for tonight’s match.
