A nervy one-all draw saw Manchester City and Real Madrid take a point apiece in the UWCL at the Joie Stadium. Goals from Linda Caicedo and Bunny Shaw kept fans on the edge of their seat as the two sides met for the first time since 2022.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid dominated the opening half of the tie with several good chances. Felicia Schröder had a good chance just seconds into the tie as Carlotta Wamser made an early mistake. Ultimately, it was Colombian International Linda Caicedo who opened the scoring in the 30th minute. Despite launching several good attacks, the hosts were unable to find a reply, with Real Madrid taking a slender lead in at the break.
The second half brought an almost instant turnaround for the hosts. With just over five minutes gone in the second half, Bunny Shaw found the back of the net to bring the scoreline back level. There was a controversy with just seconds remaining in the tie as the referee collided with Beth Mead, allowing Real to snatch a late winner. The goal was immediately disallowed, with the visitors awarded a free kick as a consolation. The draw saw both teams take a single point from the fixture as the third round of the UWCL looms.
Manchester City will host Arsenal in a crucial WSL clash ahead of the international break. The Sky Blues will then welcome Brighton to the Joie Stadium before the first Manchester Derby of the season.
For Real Madrid, a season-defining clash with Barcelona looms followed by a meeting with Espanyol following the international break.
