In a recent report, Foot Mercato revealed that Manchester City are hoping to land Troyes youngster Mathys Detourbet. It is believed that the Mancunian giants are in talks to bring the French winger to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Detourbet’s Impressive Rise In French Football

The 19-year-old has come through the youth ranks of Troyes and has done well to establish himself as an important member of their first team. Detourbet found the back of the net five times and secured seven assists in 38 matches for the French outfit last season in multiple competitions.

The French whizkid is currently one of the most gifted young wide players in his homeland. Therefore, it is no wonder that Man City are hoping to snap him up later this year.

His current contract at Troyes will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for the Mancunian club to land him on the cheap this off-season.

Manchester City Are Hoping To Land Detourbet: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Detourbet can make a few driving runs with the ball out on the flanks. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in and around the opponent’s penalty area and can shoot the ball with power from long range.

The French prospect deserves credit for already adding some goals and assists to his game last season. Detourbet is primarily a left-winger but can also serve as a centre-forward or play in the number ten position if asked to do so by his manager. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in the Premier League if the Mancunian giants end up acquiring his services this summer.

Detourbet would undoubtedly improve the quality of Man City’s attack in the long run. He is already good enough to serve as a good rotational piece in the Mancunian club’s squad.
