Ajax youngster Sontje Hansen is the subject of interest from Manchester City, who have been scouting the striker extensively this season.

The 17-year-old burst onto the scene last summer at the Under-17 World Cup in Brazil, where he finished as top scorer despite his Netherlands side being eliminated at the quarter-final stage.

According to the Guardian, City are keeping close tabs on Hansen, who could be available for a bargain fee of just £6 million, making him a very attractive proposition for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The forward’s current deal with Ajax is due to expire next year and he has yet to pen an extension with the Amsterdam outfit.

Clever, quick and capable of playing both out wide and centrally, he fits the profile for what Guardiola is seeking in a forward player and the coach is on alert given Sergio Agüero’s contract is also running down.

As a result, Hansen is viewed as a player who could have long-term value and bolster their attacking options as back-up in the short term too.

The Citizens have scouted the teenager, who made his Ajax debut in December last year, at the aforementioned World Cup and Under-17 European Championship as well as in several Uefa Youth League.

They will face competition for his signature though, with the report claiming that Inter, Milan, Juventus and RB Leipzig have all expressed interest too.
