Manchester City defender Kerstin Casparij has signed a new long-term deal with the club which will run until summer 2027.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Cityzens this morning.

Casparij joined Manchester City in summer 2022 off the back of some impressive performances for The Netherlands at UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 and the player has gone on to cement her place in Gareth Taylor’s starting XI. The 24-year-old has made 65 appearances for Manchester City in all competitions to date while she netted her first goal for the club against SKN St Pölten at The Joie Stadium last week.

The defender’s Manchester City career continues to go from strength-to-strength and the club have therefore moved to retain her services for the long-term.

After signing her new contract at Manchester City, Casparij said “It feels amazing. It was pretty much a no-brainer and as soon as Charlotte [O’Neill] and Gareth [Taylor] let me know they wanted to extend my contract, I was pretty much up for it straight away.

“I think we’re doing really good things. We have some big goals with the Club, as a team and individually for me and trying to take it step-by-step. We want to win something [this season]. We want to give our fans something to celebrate and ourselves something celebrate.”

Casparij could feature for Manchester City when they face FC Barcelona in their final UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage game on Wednesday evening.
