Kicker and Köln’s Geißblog are currently confirming a report in Britain’s Sun regarding the imminent transfer of Manchester City centre-back Jahmai Simpson-Pusey to 1. FC Köln. According to all sources, talks to secure the 20-year-old on loan have proven successful. After Simpson-Pusey’s loan to Celtic is broken off early, the England U18 international is due in the cathedral city for a medical. Simpson-Pusey will head to the Bundesliga on loan with a purchase option. 

Köln quick to solve urgent central defensive issues

A raft of injuries in the central defensive corps already had Köln looking to England for defensive reinforcements.The Effzeh have moved quickly to obtain Simpson-Pusey, reportedly setting up a Sunday medical for the youngster. Once the centre-back passes his medical, he will quickly move to Spain on Monday to join Köln’s January mini-camp. 

Simpson-Pusey maintains an estimated market value of €5m. Assuming reports about a purchase option are correct, the Huddersfield-native would fall well within the budget of the Domstädter. Thus far, Simpson-Pusey has failed to break through for the Man City first team and only made one Scottish Premiership with Celtic during his ill-fated loan stint.
