Callum Doyle is aiming for a permanent Manchester City exit to progress his career after successful loan spells at Leicester and Norwich City in the last few years.
The 21-year-old Englishman is one of the brightest defensive talents to have emerged from Manchester City’s academy under Pep Guardiola, with the likes of Nico O’Reilly and James McAtee staking their clain in the first-team this season.
Rico Lewis remains an ever-present figure in the senior squad whilst Oscar Bobb hopes to put his injury woes behind him next season after a series of recurring issues that have derailed his progression in the first-team since August 2024.
All in all, the Manchester City academy is pulling its weight for the first-team and Phil Foden remains the best example as someone who learnt his trade in training day-in, day-out under Guardiola in his early years as manager – and is now reaping the rewards for his patience, hardwork and determination to break into the first-team.
Doyle spent the 2023-24 campaign with Leicester City and signed for Norwich City last summer as he looks top get regular first-team football under his belt and further his career – whether that be at Manchester City or away from his parent club.
The England U-21 international has also been on loan at Coventry City and Sunderland after emerging as one of the brightest talents to come out of the Manchester City academy, who have seen the likes of Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Liam Delap star for Chelsea, Aston Villa and Ipswich Town this season.
After progressing his career by means of loan spells across England, Doyle has his eyes set on a permanent transfer in England or abroad – holding a firm belief in his ability and that he has enough experience on his CV for a permanent move ahead of the summer transfer window.
“I think (a permanent move) is the next aim for me,” Doyle told the Pink Un, as quoted by Coventry Live.
“It’s my fourth loan now, and I’ve been all over the country. I’ve got nothing to say bad about this club (Norwich City). I love it. I’ve loved playing here and at Carrow Road.
“The fans are great so you never know (about a return). It just depends on what happens in the summer, to be honest.”
The Manchester-born centre half is unlikely to be wanted by Guardiola in his first-team next season after City bolstered their prospects in Doyle’s position by signing Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis in the January transfer window.
Doyle has plenty of experience for a 21-year-old English centre half and a permanent transfer is almost certainly on the cards for the Manchester City academy graduate, who is under contract at the Etihad Stadium till 2027.
