The FA Cup quarter-final draw has paired Manchester City with Liverpool, a meeting of the past two Premier League champions. According to L'Équipe, City were finalists last season against Crystal Palace, losing 0-1, and have reached the semi-finals every year since 2018-2019.
Pep Guardiola's side have won both league meetings with Liverpool this season, 3-0 and 2-1.
The ties are scheduled for the weekend of four April, after the late March international break and just before the first legs of the Champions League quarter-finals that City and Liverpool could contest if they advance from the last 16.
Chelsea and Arsenal could also be involved in the Champions League quarter-finals, and they have been handed more favourable FA Cup assignments.
The other quarter-final ties are Chelsea v Port Vale, third tier, Southampton, second tier, v Arsenal, and West Ham or Brentford v Leeds.
