By now it is well-established that Manchester City have an interest in signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. Craig Hope has previously reported for the Daily Mail that City were planning on making the England international one of their top targets for next summer. Now a new report has emerged that states that City have kept a close eye on Elliot Anderson’s performances for Forest this season and that Elliot Anderson is keen on a potential move to Manchester City.
It now seems that the stars could be aligning for City to make their move for one of the top midfielders in the Premier League. But one stumbling block remains in Manchester City’s pursuit of Elliot Anderson based on a new report from Sacha Tavolieri.
Sacha Tavolieri has released a wide-ranging report for Sky Sports on Manchester City’s interest in signing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. As per Tavolieri’s report, City have sent scouts to monitor Anderson’s progress on more than 10 occasions this season. Furthermore, Tavolieri reports that Elliot Anderson has informed his ‘professional circle’ that he is giving priority to a future move to Manchester City. Lastly, Tavolieri reports that Nottingham Forest’s £100 million asking price to sell one of their key players could prove to be problematic. At this stage, City are unwilling to pay such a steep transfer fee to sign the England international.

It now seems that Manchester City’s interest in Elliot Anderson is moving at a fast pace. The England international has gone from a potential target to a player that City are making preparations for a future bid for Anderson. With City’s scouting department having done their due diligence on the Nottingham Forest midfielder, City have laid all of the potential groundwork to sign one of the top midfielders in the Premier League. The problem seems to be the difference in valuation between City and Forest for Elliot Anderson. It seems to be highly unlikely that Forest will sell one of the best and most important players in January. So there is time for City to figure out a transfer fee to sign a midfielder that would add plenty to Manchester City’s midfield next summer.
It now seems that Elliot Anderson is keen on a move to Manchester City. It may take until next summer for City to make their move for Elliot Anderson but it now appears that City know the state of play to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. They also know what Nottingham Forest’s demands will be and for City to plan a summer move for the England international, they have plenty of time to get all of their ducks in a row before moving for one of the most coveted midfielders in the Premier League.
