It has seemed for some time that Savinho will leave the club, however there hasn’t been any recent updates on his prospective move to Tottenham. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Spurs are eager to sign the Brazilian winger, but City are undecided if they will sell Savinho. Perhaps Manchester City are waiting to find a winger to sign before sanctioning the sale of a talented but frustrating player.

It has now been reported that Manchester City have placed PSG’s 18-year-old winger, Ibrahim Mbaye, on their short-list. Mbaye impressed at the World Cup with Senegal and is an elite prospect due to his combination of speed, explosiveness, dribbling ability and eye for goal. City would face competition to sign Mbaye but it appears that City are a possible destination for Mbaye, who looks likely to leave PSG this summer.

Furthermore, Aouna reports that competition will be fierce to sign Mbaye, who is expected to leave PSG this summer. Tottenham, Aston Villa, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are also tracking the Senegalese international. Lastly, it is reported that Mbaye wants to leave PSG this summer and the European champions are open to selling him.

Would Ibrahim Mbaye be an upgrade on Savinho? That seems to be the question.

All signs point toward Manchester City signing another winger if Savinho departs the club. It would come as a shock if the 2026-27 season began and Savinho remained at the club. He looks like he wants to leave City and if Tottenham pay Manchester City’s asking price, he will be granted his wish. The question then becomes is Ibrahim Mbaye an upgrade on Savinho? They share a similar profile but Mbaye may have more upside than the Brazilian international.

Ibrahim Mbaye can play on the left or right wing. Much like Savinho. Primarily, he plays on the right. The Senegalese international is an explosive dribbler and his speed, acceleration, and ability to utilize his close control make him a dynamic threat out wide. Perhaps the major criticism of Savinho is his lack of end product. His finishing lets him down as does his final delivery. Ibrahim Mbaye has spent considerable time at PSG and he does seem to have a better end product than Savinho.

While the statistics don’t show it, Mbaye looks to be more of a goal threat than Savinho. Mbaye has scored 4 goals in 42 appearances for PSG. For Senegal, he has scored 4 goals in 15 international appearances. There is an air of confidence that Mbaye oozes with his finishing that Savinho sorely lacks.
