On a day that was dominated by Ederson’s statement on social media in response to recent media reports, there was also plenty of transfer news to discuss.

That transfer news was not too much linked to arrivals at the Etihad Stadium however, with just one story emerging concerning Manchester City on Friday in what has been a consistent theme throughout the summer.

But on the departures front, there was plenty to discuss. Ederson was of course embedded into those news stories, while one name is closing in on a big-money move to the Bundesliga following an exemplary loan campaign in La Liga last season.

Following yet another eventful day in the summer transfer window concerning Manchester City, here is everything you need to know in order to remain up to date after day 43 in the market.

Arrivals

Christian Falk: “There is an idea at Manchester City to try and sign him [Jamal Musiala] as the successor of Kevin De Bruyne. I don’t know if the Belgian international will leave this summer or in the next, but the story of De Bruyne is coming to an end…”

Pep Guardiola on more new Manchester City signings: “Right now, no… Right now, no… If someone leaves at the end, maybe. But if no one leaves, I think we’ll stay as we are…” (Press Conference)

Departures

Negotiations between Al Ittihad and Manchester City for Ederson are currently NOT progressing, with a move still complicated. City are demanding a €50 million/€60 million package or else there is ‘no way for a green light’. (Fabrizio Romano, X)

Yan Couto is now on the verge of joining Borussia Dortmund, with the two clubs ‘not far apart’ on a transfer fee. Manchester City are demanding €30 million, while Dortmund’s current offer is €20 million plus €5 million in bonuses. (BILD, BVB Newsblog)

Trabzonspor will make a loan offer for Manchester City’s Luke Mbete. (Salim Manav, X)

Borussia Dortmund’s proposal to Manchester City of €20 million plus €5 million for Yan Couto is an initial loan offer with an obligation to buy the Brazilian. The two clubs remain in direct talks to find a solution, with City wanting a permanent transfer. (Patrick Berger, X)

Al Ittihad’s interest in signing Ederson from Manchester City is now OVER. (City Report, X)

Al-Ahli and Al-Ettifaq are both willing to pay the €30 million asking price on Joao Cancelo set by Manchester City – who are ‘desperate’ to part ways with the defender. Cancelo himself is ‘uninterested’ in a move to the Middle-East, with eyes only set on a return to Barcelona – who want to agree to another loan with a non-mandatory buy option. (Sport)

Juventus are currently ahead of Inter Milan, should Joao Cancelo agree to a return to Italy this summer upon leaving Manchester City – who remain intent on a sale. (Calciomercato)

Pep Guardiola: “I would love, from the bottom of my heart, that Ederson stays. If nobody goes, we’ll stay as we are… Replacing Eddie is so difficult. I cannot imagine our success without him. He is an important figure in the dressing room…” (Press Conference)

Contract Renewals

Pep Guardiola says he will “not rule out” a Manchester City contract extension. Pep: “When I’m leaving, I will say I’m leaving. But I didn’t say that… We will see what happens. But I will not rule it out absolutely to extend my contract. I would love to stay… I have been here for eight years. So I’m not staying here for eight more years, that’s why I’m more closer to leaving than staying. But I didn’t say I’m leaving!” (Press Conference)
