Premier League champions Manchester City reportedly hold a level of interest in starring Eintracht Frankfurt forward, Omar Marmoush.
Marmoush made the switch to Frankfurt in the summer transfer window of 2023 on a free transfer from VfL Wolfsburg and taking the number 7 shirt in the process, whilst going on to record 16 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions during his debut season.
His form during his first campaign immediately drew transfer attention from a number of high-profile Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham, whilst his 12 goals in the 2023/24 Bundesliga season made him the third-highest African goalscorer.
But Marmoush has taken his output in front of goal to even greater heights this campaign, having recorded an outstanding 11 goals and seven assists in just 10 Bundesliga appearances so far this season.
That form in the German top-flight takes the player’s tally across all competitions to a remarkable 14 goals and 10 assists in just 16 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt, making him one of the hottest-commodities within the game at present.
And according to the information of Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt are now set to demand between £50 million and £60 million to sell Omar Marmoush in January amid interest from Manchester City.
It is claimed that the 25-year-old Egypt international is keen to make the step up to an elite club where he can compete for trophies and play in the UEFA Champions League, but will only leave Frankfurt if he is guaranteed regular game time.
As for the stance taken by the German club themselves, the report states that they are extremely reluctant to let Marmoush leave halfway through the season, amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester City – who are both keen to bolster their forward lines.
Manchester City’s difficulties in their forward line and lack of options to stand-in for Erling Haaland have been well-documented since the summer transfer window and the sale of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid.
City ultimately turned down the opportunity to sign a player to come in to support Haaland during times of injury or rotation this season, with Pep Guardiola satisfied with his options and the players who could play out of position throughout the campaign.
Among those options was Oscar Bobb, who picked up a fracture in his leg during a training session prior to Manchester City’s first Premier League game of the season, whilst Phil Foden has been below his usual standards set from the previous season.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester City would have any interest in recruiting at such a high-level of investment in the forward role in January, given the clear need for defensive midfield reinforcement following the injury sustained by Rodri.
