Manchester City are in advanced talks to sign Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo in the winter transfer window, per BBC Sport. 

Pep Guardiola’s side have made positive progress in recent days and are now confident to secure his signature next month. 

Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea also made enquiries over a move, but the 25-year-old prefers to join City. 

United’s interest cooled because they expect the Ghana international to join the Citizens, while Chelsea decided against pursuing a deal. 

Liverpool have also asked about the conditions of a transfer and it remains to be seen whether they make a move after Alexander Isak’s recent injury. 

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s chances for the forward’s signature are believed to be slim. 

Semenyo has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this term, bagging eight goals and three assists in 16 appearances. 

Bournemouth’s preference would be to keep the winger until the summer, but they are powerless to prevent him from leaving due to the £65 million release clause in his contract. 

Semenyo is a versatile forward who can play on both wings and as a striker. He is highly rated for his pace, strength and directness. 

City are in the Premier League title race with Arsenal, and signing the 25-year-old would boost their chances of success this season. 

They are currently just two points behind the Gunners in the league table after a run of five consecutive wins.
