Manchester City have offered €120m to Chelsea for Enzo Fernandez as they aim to deliver the midfielder to new boss Enzo Maresca.

The Cityzens are set to start a new era under former Chelsea boss Maresca following the departure of highly successful manager Pep Guardiola.

The Etihad outfit have been active in the market to strengthen their squad and have already secured the high-profile signing of Elliot Anderson, along with several others.

Following the World Cup, midfielder Rodri looks set to leave the Etihad, with Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid keen on him, prompting the Cityzens to seek midfield reinforcements.

Manchester City have set their sights on Fernandez, who played under Maresca during his time with the Blues.

The midfielder has faced uncertainty over his future at Stamford Bridge since March, when he first raised the possibility of a move to Real Madrid.

With the midfielder in great form and still having six years left on his contract with Chelsea, the Blues have set a strict Friday deadline for Manchester City to meet their €140m valuation of the Argentine.

Now, with fresh developments emerging, according to Argentine journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, Manchester City have offered €120m to Chelsea for Fernandez.

It has been suggested that Maresca, who has worked closely with the 25-year-old, wants the player at all costs.

Chelsea, who are also starting their new era under Xabi Alonso, have already secured Morgan Rogers, Valentin Barco and Jordan Henderson to bolster their midfield.

The Blues are showing no indication of offering any discount to their fellow Premier League team, suggesting they want to generate as much revenue as they can.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester City will be able to secure the signature of Fernandez with their opening bid or whether Chelsea will demand more.

Meanwhile, it has been suggested that Landon Emenalo’s visit to Celtic’s training ground has not guaranteed the Chelsea youngster a move to Parkhead.
