Premier League champions Manchester City are intensifying their interest in RB Leipzig and Spain international playmaker Dani Olmo, according to new reports.

Interest in the player, currently starring for Spain at the ongoing European Championships in Germany, emerges as Manchester City officials continue their pursuit of recruitment in central areas of Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Bruno Guimaraes is understood to remain Manchester City’s number one priority in the midfield role this summer, while the Brazilian’s release clause in his Newcastle contract – understood to be worth £100 million – has now expired.

Lucas Paqueta was also a long-term target for the Premier League champions, before the West Ham playmaker was charged with multiple breaches of Football Association gambling rules, forcing City to withdraw any interest.

With Euro 2024 still ongoing, Manchester City are continuing their own work away from the tournament, leading them towards RB Leipzig – a club they know well both on and off the pitch following recent engagements in the last few seasons.

According to the information of Football Insider, Manchester City have now asked Bundesliga side RB Leipzig for information on the versatile Spanish international attacking midfielder Dani Olmo.

It is further explained that Manchester City officials have watched the 26-year-old closely for the last two years, and are now intensifying their pursuit in light of ongoing concerns over the futures of some existing first-team stars.

Additional information courtesy of transfer window expert Fabrizio Romano has also revealed that the release clause of Olmo at Leipzig is valid until July 15, and worth €60 million with ‘Premier League clubs and Bayern Munich monitoring him’.

Manchester City have met their counterparts from RB Leipzig on multiple occasions in recent seasons in UEFA Champions League competition, giving both sides plenty of opportunity to see eachother’s players up close and personal.

From the side of the Etihad Stadium club, those clashes led to Manchester City approaching Leipzig for the services for in-demand Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol last summer, with the 22-year-old penning an agreement with the Premier League club for a reported £77 million.

Gvardiol has proven to be a success for Pep Guardiola in his opening season working under the Catalan coach, largely operating in the left-back position and showcasing his on-the-ball capabilities in both attacking and defensive regions.
