John Stones' future now looks set to continue along a familiar path. The Manchester City centre-back, whose contract is due to expire next June, has expressed his desire to extend his stay in sky blue. According to The Mirror, talks are about to begin with the City board over a deal running until 2028. Club chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak shares this ambition, determined not to let one of the pillars of the Guardiola era leave on a free transfer.

Arriving at the Etihad in 2016 for £48 million from Everton, Stones has never lost his importance in the team. His 281 appearances and 15 major trophies—including six Premier League titles—are a testament to his longevity and his key role in the club's winning cycle, highlighted by the historic 2023 treble. Valued for his ability to play both at centre-back and as a holding midfielder, he has become the very prototype of a player shaped by Guardiola.
