Manchester City goalkeeper Eve Annets has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Portsmouth on a season-long loan deal.

Pompey announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this morning.

Annets joined parent club Manchester City from former Barclays Women’s Championship side Reading earlier this summer. The 18-year-old made her professional debut for The Royals last season in the group stage of the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup. Annets made four first team appearances for the Berkshire club in total before leaving Reading following their resignation from the professional game.

The youngster has signed with new club Manchester City for the next four years, however, she needs further senior playing experience before pushing for regular game time at The Joie Stadium. Head coach Gareth Taylor has therefore allowed the player to spend the 2024/2025 season on loan at Portsmouth.

Annets joins a Portsmouth side that are transitioning to a full-time operating model ahead of their debut season in the Barclays Women’s Championship. She will continue her development with the support of first-choice goalkeeper and club captain Hannah Haughton during her time on the South Coast.

Portsmouth have now added six new players to their squad over the summer.
