Phil Foden started this season strongly, and he was one of the best-performing players for Manchester City in the early stages of the season. Lately, as fatigue has set in, Foden’s form has suffered. The England international looks tired, like many of his teammates. He hasn’t been at his best, which has been evident in his recent performances. Pep Guardiola revealed yesterday that Foden suffered a broken hand in Manchester City’s inept 2-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United. Despite the fact that Foden is playing with an injury, Manchester City needs Foden to perform, starting tonight against Bodø/Glimt.

Despite the fact that Foden is injured, Manchester City need him to quickly get back into form.

Phil Foden has joined a host of Manchester City players who are now injured. The positive for Foden is that he can play through the broken hand he suffered. That is good news for Pep Guardiola’s side, who will be missing eleven players in their Champions League fixture against Bodø/Glimt tonight. With Foden available to play, Manchester City desperately need him to rediscover his best form.

When Foden is at his best, Manchester City are an infinitely better team. Playing in a midfield role, Foden links up Manchester City’s play exceptionally well with his passing and movement. His goals from midfield and his ability to create for others are a key component of Pep Guardiola’s side. Unfortunately, as Foden’s form has dipped, this side of his game has suffered. Against Manchester United at Old Trafford, Foden was passive and didn’t do enough. He wasn’t alone in that particular boat as many of his teammates were poor in the 198th Manchester derby. Pep Guardiola’s side needs him at his best, and hopefully, he rises to the occasion starting tonight.

Phil Foden will be playing with a broken hand tonight in Norway. He deserves credit for pushing through the pain. Manchester City needs Foden to fire to help their cause. Hopefully, Foden can put in a good performance tonight at the Aspmyra Stadion to begin to come out the other side of his recent dip in form.
