With Robert Lewandowski’s contract expiring at the end of the season, FC Barcelona are already planning for the future beyond the veteran striker.
As reported earlier today, the Catalans consider the signing of a top-quality centre-forward economically viable as long as a couple of key conditions are met.
A list of possible targets has also been prepared by the Barcelona sporting department, with Julian Alvarez being the most-liked option.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester City’s goalscoring phenom, Erling Haaland, is considered an ‘impossible dream’ by Barcelona.
It is no secret that the Norwegian striker is greatly admired at the Catalan club, with president Joan Laporta exploring the idea of signing him in 2022, before he ended up at Manchester City.
Previous reports have suggested that Laporta still continues to view the prolific striker as his dream target to take over from Lewandowski.

The Barcelona chief also has a very good relationship with the former Borussia Dortmund star’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta.
However, the fact that Haaland signed a new long-term contract with Manchester City running until 2034 makes him an ‘impossible dream’ in the eyes of the La Liga champions.
So, even though there is a possibility of Barcelona signing a big-name striker in the summer of 2026, it is unlikely that it will be Haaland.
Instead, as mentioned above, Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid is a well-liked option within the Catalan club.
Names such as Harry Kane of Bayern Munich, Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen, and Serhou Guirassy of Borussia Dortmund are also on the table. Etta Eyong of Levante, meanwhile, is seen as a low-cost, long-term solution.
