Manchester City prepares for the post-Guardiola era: three names in the frame
The Pep Guardiola era could be nearing its end at Manchester City this summer, and the club has already begun looking towards his successor.
According to the Telegraph, three managers are currently on the radar of the club’s hierarchy: Xabi Alonso (formerly of Real Madrid), Enzo Maresca (ex-Chelsea), and Cesc Fàbregas (Como). Enzo Maresca knows the club well, having coached the U23s before serving as Guardiola's assistant. Cesc Fàbregas, meanwhile, played under Guardiola at Barcelona and could fully grasp the legacy he would inherit. Xabi Alonso also worked with Guardiola as a player at Bayern Munich, making him a credible candidate, and he’s also being tracked by Liverpool.
The Spanish tactician is under contract with City until 2027 and will soon have to decide whether he continues his adventure or not. His decision will trigger the start of talks for his replacement.
