The Cityzens fell to only their second defeat of the season as they went down 1-0 at Arsenal last weekend.
Manchester City have the opportunity to bounce back against struggling Leicester City at The Joie Stadium and head coach Jeglertz says that his side are ready.
“Of course, we were disappointed,” Jeglertz said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “We were disappointed about the result and we didn’t feel we showed our best in the game, especially in the first half. There was a disappointment in the group on Monday but on the other hand, it’s a short turnaround and the [good] mood was back very quickly. We are definitely ready to bounce back on Friday.”
After results went against them last weekend, Leicester City go into the match bottom of the Barclays Women’s Super League table. Despite The Foxes’ ranking, Jeglertz expects the East Midlands side to compete this weekend.
He said “Of course, they’re a team that will battle in the whole game. That’s what happened when we faced them in Leicester. They really made it hard for us by closing all of the spaces, defending their box in a very good way and it might be the same here.
“If you look at the last few games that they’ve played, I think they have more offensive quality than they had in the last game [against us], so I don’t think they’ll only sit back, I think they’ll find an opportunity to push up a little bit. Hopefully, that will give us more space to play in.”
Just five points separate the Barclays Women’s Super League’s bottom four clubs and Jeglertz is pleased to see competition throughout the league.
He said “It shows that the quality is improving every year and no team is here to just protect the result or keep the score down. Every team is competing to get a point or win the game.
“It’s very good and important for the league that all the positions at the top and bottom are battles.”
