According to the Daily Mail, the Citizens are ready to make Anderson one of their top targets in 2026.

City’s director of football Hugo Viana and manager Pep Guardiola are big admirers of the England international, and their scouts have been in the stands at recent Forest games.

The Tricky Trees will reportedly not listen to offers for their star player in January, but a sale in the summer is possible, especially if a club matches their £100 million valuation.

Ruben Amorim’s side spent most of their transfer budget on bolstering their attack last summer, but their priority now is midfield.

Casemiro will likely leave Old Trafford in 2026, while Manuel Ugarte has failed to live up to the expectations after arriving from Paris Saint-Germain.

United are desperate to add a top-quality midfielder, and they have set their sights on Anderson, who has recently emerged as one of English football’s most in-demand stars.

However, they face competition from City who are attracted by the player’s versatility.

Adam Wharton has previously been considered but the Blues now prefer Anderson to the Crystal Palace star.

Newcastle United were forced to sell the 23-year-old to avoid breaching financial rules, but they are keen to re-sign him.

But given the enormous price-tag, Anderson’s return to St James’ Park is not expected to happen.
