Manchester City clearly want to bring another right back to the Etihad Stadium and have turned their attention to Givairo Read.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Man City are monitoring Read ahead of a potential move for the Feyenoord right-back and are ‘keen’.
The Cityzens could use the freakishly athletic Read. The 19-year-old is as complete as they come.
He is blessed with remarkable pace and stamina. His passing and vision are top-notch. He is also strong in one-on-one duels and tackling, making him the complete package.
The Man City target has delivered three assists in the Eredivisie this season, averaging 1.0 key pass per game, while winning 60% of his aerial and 58% of his ground duels.
In the Europa League, he has scored once and created two big chances, coming out on top in 73% of his aerial and 70% of his ground duels.
He is a top talent and would represent a coup for Man City if they can land him.
The departure of Kyle Walker left a hole at right-back, leaving Rico Lewis as the only natural in the position at the club.
Man City boss Pep Guardiola converted midfielder Matheus Nunes to a right-back, and he has been serviceable, but the Spanish tactician apparently wants a specialist.
A move for first-choice target Valentino Livramento did not materialise, and now the Cityzens have turned their attention elsewhere.
However, the FA Cup finalists need to move quickly, with Bayern Munich also sniffing around Read. They have already held talks with his camp.
Like City, Bayern could use another right-back in the ranks, with Read on their transfer radar, setting up an intriguing transfer battle.
Reports claim he would cost around €35 million, which would likely not be a problem for the Premier League outfit, but would also be affordable for Bayern.
