The 18-year-old joins from BSC YB Frauen to become the Women’s Super League side’s second signing of the summer.

It comes after City signed Canadian Jade Rose from Harvard University last week.

“I’m very happy to be here and I can’t wait to start the new season with Manchester City,” Beney told her new club’s official website.

“I had a good feeling with Therese [Sjogran, director of football], and I think City is the best solution to help develop me as a player.

“They are a club who like to keep possession, and I really like to have the ball, so I think it’s a good fit.”

Beney will wear the No 26 shirt for Man City during the 2025-26 season. The shirt has been vacant for three seasons since Keira Walsh left the team in 2022.

Who is new Man City signing Iman Beney?

Iman Beney is a Swiss international forward who looks to have a big future ahead of her.

The 18-year-old scored nine goals in 22 appearances as BSC YB Frauen won the Swiss Super League title last season. She was also named in the league’s team of the season.

Beney was the youngest member of Switzerland’s Women’s World Cup squad in 2023 at the age of 16. However, she was forced to pull out of the squad after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament.

That same year she was named in the team of the tournament as Switzerland reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s U17 championship.

Beney, who is of Brazilian descent via her mother, comes from a footballing family.

Her father , Nicolas, was a goalkeeper who was active between 1997 and 2010 for teams including FC Sion and FC Wil 1900.

Beney’s brother, Romeo, is 20-years-old and currently plays for Swiss side Basel, and has represented his country at U20 level.

What else can be expected from Man City in the summer transfer window?

As reported by the BBC, Man City are in the market for a midfielder and defender during the summer transfer window.

Forward Chloe Kelly will leave City for good after spending the 2024-25 season on loan at WSL rivals Arsenal.

Man City will be determined to bridge the gap to Arsenal and Chelsea after a disappointing campaign.

The club missed out on a Champions League place after finishing fourth in the standings.

Interim boss Nick Cushing said at the end of this season: “”When I took this role on, it was about winning trophies and qualifying and we haven’t been able to be able to deliver that.

“We have been a team that has delivered trophies consistently over a seven-year period when I’ve been involved. This team should always be delivering trophies and competing in the Champions League.

“The league position is far below what I expect, but we are not that far away.”
