Nico O’Reilly is set to be rewarded with a fresh Manchester City deal after his impressive displays for the first-team, as per a new report.

The 20-year-old has received huge plaudits for his performances in recent months, being a mainstay in Manchester City’s FA Cup lineups and recently making his full Premier League debut against Leicester City.

O’Reilly made his second start in the Premier League for Manchester City against local rivals Manchester United, starring in a left-back role again after his eye-catching displays in the position over the course of the campaign.

Pep Guardiola has been impressed with O’Reilly’s performances this term, with the Manchester-born star coming off the bench and providing two assists to help City to a 2-1 comeback win against Bournemouth in the FA Cup quarter-final last weekend.

O’Reilly has been a silver lining in a cloud surrounding Manchester City’s injury-riddled backline this season, with each of Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake and John Stones all spending weeks if not months on the sidelines at various points of the campaign.

The Manchester City academy graduate has offered a raw sense of physicality and versatility often lacking in the first-team this season, with the reigning Premier League champions set for a major rebuild at the end of the season.

Txiki Begiristain is understood to have postponed his departure from the club until after the summer transfer window shuts as he looks to help incoming sporting director Hugo Viana – who was in attendance at the Manchester derby on Sunday – with the transition process.

According to Sun Sport, Manchester City are set to double Nico O’Reilly’s wages and offer their academy graduate a bumper new deal after his groundbreaking displays in the first-team.

Chelsea are believed to hold an interest in O’Reilly, who will be offered a new deal worth £25,000-a-week, with his current contract running till the summer of 2028.

O’Reilly’s new contract will also feature incremental rises with every running season within the deal for the England U-20 international, who joined Manchester City at the age of six.
