Manchester City are reconsidering a move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson after an offer was rejected, with the club weighing whether to end their pursuit this summer.
According to The Mirror, chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubara does not want a bidding war and views a £120m proposal as fair, so City are deliberating over pulling out, with no final decision yet.
Reports have indicated Forest turned down an initial £106m plus £15m in add-ons, a package that would have exceeded the £105m Arsenal paid West Ham for Declan Rice in 2023.
Forest are understood to want an upfront fee closer to the overall value of City’s package rather than a lower sum topped up by add-ons.
Manchester United have also shown interest but are exploring alternatives. They have agreed a deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson worth an initial £35m plus £3.8m in add-ons. The mooted £120m figure is beyond United, and Anderson is said to prefer a switch to the Etihad Stadium.
The 23-year-old is with England in the United States for the World Cup and could make his first appearance in the Group L opener against Croatia on Wednesday in Dallas, followed by Ghana in Foxborough and Panama at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
