Manchester City have stepped up their rebuild under Enzo Maresca by identifying Palmeiras winger Allan Elias as a leading summer target. The Athletic reports that City are working on a deal for the 22-year-old as they look to refresh their forward line.

Any move looks complicated, with Palmeiras insisting the player is not for sale in this window. Interested clubs are said to need to trigger his €100m release clause to do a deal.

Since breaking into the first team in 2025, Elias has made 48 Serie A appearances, scoring six goals with five assists. He has six goals across all competitions this season and is yet to make his senior international debut.

City are reshaping the squad after the exits of Rodri to Barcelona and Bernardo Silva to Real Madrid, with Tijjani Reijnders also departing. Tottenham are advancing in talks for Savinho, and Newcastle are in discussions to sign midfielder Nico Gonzalez. Tottenham are also pursuing Omar Marmoush.

An arrival for Elias would continue a recent South American focus following Vitor Reis in January 2025 and Claudio Echeverri from River Plate a year earlier for around £12.5m plus add-ons. City have already added Elliott Anderson from Nottingham Forest, 17-year-old Jeremy Monga from Leicester City and goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli from Marseille. Maresca’s side lost 3-0 to Arsenal in the Community Shield and open their Premier League season at home to Bournemouth on Sunday.
