Manchester City take on Aston Villa today at Villa Park in a tough Premier League fixture for Pep Guardiola’s side. Unai Emery’s side has beaten City in their past two matches at Villa Park. But this time does feel different. City will come into today’s match on the back of a nine-game unbeaten run. Aston Villa have turned the corner after a slow start to this season, although they do enter today’s match off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Go Ahead Eagles in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night.
Here is the latest Manchester City injury news and my predicted City starting eleven for today’s match.
Manchester City will enter today’s match with two players unavailable due to injury. Rodri and Abdukodir Khusanov will not play against Aston Villa today. Pep Guardiola told the media on Friday during his pre-game press conference that neither player will feature today. Nico sustained a foot injury and his availability for today’s match is unknown. Pep Guardiola told the media that a decision on Nico’s availability would be made after the City squad trained on Friday and Saturday.

Pep Guardiola has the majority of his squad available for today’s match, which is welcome news for Guardiola as his team bids to beat Unai Emery’s side later today.
Gianluigi Donnarumma: Donnarumma is an automatic selection in goal today.
Matheus Nunes: The Portuguese international has impressed of late and deserves to start at right-back once again.
Ruben Dias: It is no coincidence that Manchester City have embarked on a nine-game unbeaten run with Ruben Dias returning to his best. He seems to be a certain starter at centre-back.
Josko Gvardiol: The Croatian international started at left-back against Villarreal, but I expect him to line up alongside Ruben Dias at centre-back in Manchester City’s defence today.
Nico O’Reilly: O’Reilly was rested against Villarreal, but I expect him to start at left-back.
Nico: Provided that Nico is fit, he should start in midfield against Aston Villa today. He’ll have a vital role to play against Aston Villa’s midfield if he does start.
Tijjani Reijnders: Reijnders’ ability to get forward from midfield could be a key component in Manchester City picking up three points today. City needs a big performance from the Dutch international, and I expect him to start.
Phil Foden: Another player who was rested against Villarreal, Foden should start in midfield today.
Bernardo Silva: It won’t be a popular selection, but I expect Bernardo Silva to start on the right wing today.
Jeremy Doku: Savinho is arguably in better form than Doku, but I’m expecting Doku to start on the left wing.
Erling Haaland: Like every match City play, Erling Haaland looms large over proceedings. He will start up front, and if he continues his strong recent form, he could fire his team to a vital three points at Villa Park.
