After their 5-2 win over Juventus yesterday Manchester City qualified for the round of 16 at the FIFA Club World Cup as the winners of Group G. Pep Guardiola’s side had to wait for results of Group H to arrive to learn their opponents for their round of 16 fixture. Following yesterday’s results, Manchester City will take on Al Hilal in the next round of the Club World Cup.

Al Hilal are a team packed with quality and proven performers

Al Hilal beat Pachuca 2-nil yesterday to qualify for the round of 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup. Goals from Sadem Al-Dawsari and Marcos Leonardo were enough for the Saudi Pro League side to finish as runners-up to Real Madrid in Group H. Al Hilal’s performance yesterday wasn’t their most polished but they got the result they needed to book a round of 16 tie against Manchester City.

Al Hilal’s starting lineup is full of quality. At the back, Joao Cancelo, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Renan Lodi are proven performers. In the case of Joao Cancelo, he will face off against a Manchester City side he left in acrimonious circumstances. In midfield, Ruben Neves and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic form the backbone of a strong midfield. Up front, Sadem Al-Dawsari, Marcos Leonardo and Malcolm can be a handful.

Al Hilal are also managed by Simone Inzaghi so they will provide a stern test for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Manchester City now know the path ahead in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Al Hilal will be Manchester City’s first opponent in the knockout stages of the Club World Cup. The Saudi Pro League side is an impressive team when they are up and about. Their first-half performance against  Real Madrid in their opening Club World Cup fixture illustrates this point.

Al Hilal represent the first step of Manchester City’s journey in the knockout stages of the Club World Cup. The winner of Manchester City’s clash with Al Hilal at the Camping World Stadium will take on the winner of Inter Milan and Fluminense in the quarter-final stage of the FIFA Club World Cup. That is the prize that is on offer when Manchester City take on Al Hilal on Tuesday morning (UK time).
