Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Arsenal at Old Trafford. Here are our player ratings from the game.
(A score of 6 is around average)
Andre Onana 5 – Kicking simply not good enough. A few nervy moments, especially in the first half. Nearly cost his side at the end when he parried the ball into the path of Gabriel Martinelli but luckily, the Brazilian couldn’t hit the target and also looked offside.
Matthijs de Ligt 7 – Monstrous performance again. Aggressive in defence and also good when passing it out from the back.
Victor Lindelof 5 – Mixed game. Some amateur mistakes on his return to the lineup but grew into the game as it went on.
Leny Yoro 6 – Solid. Won most of his duels and was doing just fine. Substituted at the break, most likely due to an injury. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious.
Noussair Mazraoui 7 – Sensational display. Got forward a lot more than he usually does when deployed at wing-back and nearly scored but his effort was kept out by David Raya. Combined well with Garnacho on the right.
Casemiro 6 – Got away with a mistake in the first half after he was caught in possession, allowing Arsenal to break forward. Didn’t get close enough to Declan Rice for Arsenal’s equaliser. Good pressing to steal the ball high up and allow Hojlund an attempt at goal but the United n.o 9 couldn’t capitalise.
Bruno Fernandes 9 – Where would United be without him? Excellent free-kick to give United the lead just before the break. United barely threatened the visitors but a bit of magic from Fernandes made the difference. Could have had a second following some brilliant link-up play inside the Arsenal box but his shot was not strong enough to trouble Raya. Nearly won the game for United right at the death but once again, Raya refused to be beaten, producing a world-class save.
Diogo Dalot 5 – Slightly better than he has been over the past few weeks but still needs to offer more in the attack.
Christian Eriksen 5 – Looked to drop into deep positions and help out. Easily bypassed a few times.
Alejandro Garnacho 8 – Top performance. United’s primary outlet and he was a thorn in the backside of the Arsenal defenders. Delivered multiple good crosses inside the box. Oustanding today.
Joshua Zirkzee 5 – Not as involved as he usually is. Nearly scored a superb backheel goal but Raya gathered it.
Ayden Heaven 7 – Barely put a foot wrong in his Premier League debut. Accomplished showing and demonstrated incredible maturity.
Toby Collyer 6 – Good cameo. Made a good cross to Hojlund that the striker should have perhaps done a little better with.
Rasmus Hojlund 4 – Should have scored the winner with at least one of his two good chances, especially the first one but he delayed, allowing Rice the time and chance to make a tackle.
