Manchester United beat Aston Villa 3-1 at Old Trafford to maintain their advantage in the race for the guaranteed Champions League places. Here are our player ratings from the game.
(A score of 6 is around average)
Senne Lammens 6 – Didn’t have much to do. Well and truly beaten for the goal, although his view may have been blocked by Amadou Onana.
Diogo Dalot 6.5 – Heavily involved in attacking play, delivering some sublime crosses. Presented with two very good goalscoring chances in either half but couldn’t hit the target. Should have been on the score sheet.
Leny Yoro 7 – Monster performance. Held his own in physical duels against Ollie Watkins and put in a huge tackle toward the end of the first half to prevent what looked like a certain goal.
Harry Maguire 7 – Composed and authoritative throughout. He dominated every duel and never appeared troubled. He came close to providing an assist when his header set up Amad, only for Emi Martinez to deny the Ivorian.
Luke Shaw 7 – Equally unflappable at the back. Produced several crucial tackles and interceptions to snuff out dangerous Villa counter-attacks.
Casemiro 8 – Brilliant headed finish to break the deadlock. Positive in midfield and endured a few nervy moments after he gave United the lead.
Kobbie Mainoo 6.5 – He gave United real authority in midfield. Seldom troubled, his all-around game was solid and he seemed to be in cruise control for the entire contest
Bruno Fernandes 9 – Two brilliant assists, one to draw level with David Beckham for the most assists by a United player in a Premier League season, and then the other to bypass the club legend. 100 assists for United.Unstoppable!
Amad 6 – Decent performance on his return to the starting XI. Dangerous, especially in the first half.
Matheus Cunha 8 – Sensational instincts to break into the space and meet Fernandes’ ball before applying a top-class finish and restoring United’s advantage.
Bryan Mbeumo 4 – Ineffective. A difficult afternoon for the forward, who offered little aside from one second-half shot that forced a save from Martinez.
Benjamin Sesko 8 – Came off the bench and scored another goal. Excellent turn and smash to make it 3-1 to the Red Devils.
Manuel Ugarte 5 – On for the dying embers of the match.
