Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle with Manu Kone’s representatives over personal terms, per Corriere dello Sport.
The Red Devils have already completed the signings of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans from Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively.
They want to add a third midfielder to the squad and are ready to submit a €50 million bid. However, that may not be enough for Roma, who are reportedly demanding around €60m.
United face strong competition from Atletico Madrid, Al-Ahli and Chelsea.
The Serie A club need to raise money to balance the books. Kone is under contract until 2029, and they are in a strong position to demand a premium fee.
The 25-year-old significantly enhanced his reputation as one of the best talents in European football with his impressive displays at the World Cup.
He started four matches for France, who reached the semi-finals this summer.
Kone also enjoyed an excellent 2025-26 season at Roma, making 37 appearances across all competitions.
The Frenchman has proven himself at the top level. He is highly rated for his ball-carrying ability, athleticism and strong defensive skills.
