Having been unable to land their preferred candidate for the centre-forward position, Julian Alvarez, despite several months of efforts, FC Barcelona are now sounding out alternative options to ensure Hansi Flick does not go into the new season without a natural first-team centre-forward.
In this regard, the Blaugranes have been linked with different names in the last few days. Among these have been some high-profile players, like Lautaro Martinez. Meanwhile, another somewhat low-profile name with whom the Catalans have also been linked is the Club Brugge forward Nicolo Tresoldi.
However, as is the case with their other targets like Alvarez and Martinez, getting Tresoldi is also not going to be easy for Barcelona. This is clear from a report from SPORT, which reveals that following news of the Blaugranes’ interest in him, the forward’s demand in the market has increased significantly, and two Premier League sides have also entered the race for his signature.
The Spanish outlet cites the Belgian portal Voetbalniews to report that Manchester United and Chelsea have both made inquiries about the 22-year-old forward. For their part, Brugge were previously not too keen to let the forward leave, and claimed they had rejected an offer of up to €35 million from AS Roma for him. Now, the Belgians might give in to pressure from such big clubs, and Nicolo Tresoldi can be transferred for around €50 million.
Meanwhile, Barcelona continue to remain hopeful of a positive turn of affairs in the Julian Alvarez saga, which could finally allow them to land the Argentine forward in the remaining days of this summer transfer window. However, time is not on their side, as they have their first game of the 2026-27 season scheduled for tonight, and the transfer market is closing in only around a week.
