Manchester United and Manchester City are prepared to battle it out to sign Nottingham Forest duo Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson this summer.

Anderson and Gibbs-White are of interest to both clubs, who are weighing up transfer proposals. Manchester United’s desire for midfield reinforcements has been well documented, with Casemiro set to depart when his contract expires in the summer.

Anderson, who has cemented a place in the England squad this season, is high on the club’s wish-list to anchor their engine room.

United also like Gibbs-White, who is viewed as an attractive option to inject further creativity into the side. Mason Mount’s ongoing fitness issues have increased the reliance on Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford.

However, Manchester City are also monitoring both players. City expressed interest in Gibbs-White last summer, alongside Tottenham Hotspur, but instead turned to Tijjani Reijnders. The 26-year-old remains a player of interest to Pep Guardiola, despite signing a new contract at Nottingham Forest earlier this season.

According to the Mail, a transfer tug-of-war between the Manchester rivals could take place in the summer. City’s interest in Anderson and Gibbs-White continues a recent policy of targeting players with Premier League experience, following January deals for Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi.

Both clubs will be keeping a close eye on Forest’s run-in, as Vitor Pereira’s team battle for Premier League survival. Relegation for Forest could aid potential pursuits of the club’s in-demand midfield duo.
