The recently concluded summer transfer window saw United beat Real Madrid to the signing of highly-rated defender Leny Yoro.

Los Blancos followed the Frenchman for a long time, but the Red Devils showed more decisiveness and determination to get the deal over the line in July.

The Premier League giants have already started planning their next summer transfer window and it seems they may yet again find themselves challenging Madrid for a talented defender.

On Monday, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United have set their sights on Sanchez.

The Red Devils followed the Spaniard at the Olympics and even spoke to Gaby Ruiz, a close confidante of Sevilla sporting director Victor Orta, to understand the 21-year-old’s situation. He picked the gold medal with La Roja.

Now, AS (via Sport Witness) are reporting that Madrid are also monitoring Sanchez, having been left impressed with his pace, physical and technical qualities.

The Spanish outlet says United are to “compete with” Los Blancos for the Sevilla player.

The Spain U21 international is tied to Sevilla until 2026. However, it is understood his contract includes a €20m release clause. The La Liga outfit are trying to hand him a new deal with an improved release clause.

In Paris, Sanchez was mainly used as a right-back, but he is also capable of playing higher up the pitch. Further, this season Sevilla manager García Pimienta has used him in the middle of the park.

The young star’s versatility as well as the affordable release clause in his contract make him a very appealing target for Erik ten Hag’s side.

United addressed their right-back position by signing Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich this summer, but they remain light on options in midfield as well as on the right wing.
