The Red Devils announced the news via an official club press release this afternoon.
The 29-year-old centre-back joins Manchester United off the back of a five-year spell with German club VfL Wolfsburg. She has signed a three-year deal with The Red Devils with the option of a further year.
Janssen is no stranger to the Barclays Women’s Super League. The defender represented Arsenal in the English top flight between 2015 and 2019. She won the league title with The Gunners along with the Adobe Women’s FA Cup and two FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cups.
In her five years at VfL Wolfsburg, Janssen twice won the Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga while she lifted the DFB Pokal on three occasions with the She-Wolves. She made more than 150 appearances for the German club in all competitions.
After completing her move to Manchester United, Janssen said “I’m delighted to be at such a big club like Manchester United. Signing here is a really proud moment for me, and I cannot wait to now return to the English league and create new winning moments with this talented Manchester United team.”
Janssen becomes Manchester United’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
