Manchester United Are Eyeing A January Move For This Barcelona Ace: Should Carrick Go For Him? | OneFootball

In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed that Manchester United are eyeing a January move for Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils are showing interest in bringing the Spanish defender to Old Trafford in the winter transfer window.

Balde’s Impressive Campaign In La Liga

Balde played a crucial role in Barcelona’s squad last season when he put in a lot of impressive displays on the left side of their backline. The 22-year-old made 42 appearances for the Catalan club in the previous campaign, picking up three assists in the process across all competitions.

The Spanish talent is currently among the most talented full-backs in La Liga. Hence, it is no surprise that the Red Devils have set their sights on him.

His current deal at the Nou Camp will expire in the summer of 2028, which could open the door for Man United to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.

Should Manchester United Boss Michael Carrick Go For Balde?

Balde loves a tackle and can sense the danger well to earn possession back for his side inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a decent crosser as well from the left flank.

The Spanish sensation can even engineer some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. Balde is primarily a left-back but can also serve as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can adapt to the physical demands and high intensity of Premier League football if the Red Devils manage to bring him on board next year.

We can expect Balde to bring more quality and depth to Man United head coach Michael Carrick’s defence. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Theatre of Dreams.

At 22, the future looks quite promising for Balde as long as he continues to improve with each year. He will help the Mancunian club compete across all fronts in the future and would be a great long-term successor to Luke Shaw at Old Trafford. Thus, Carrick would be wise to go for a left-back with his skill set next year.
