In a recent report, The Athletic revealed that Manchester United are eyeing a move for Racing Santander full-back Jorge Salinas. It is understood that the Red Devils have identified the Spanish talent as one of their transfer targets for this summer window.

Salinas’ Impressive Form In La Liga

Salinas enjoyed a good run of form at the Spanish club in the previous campaign as he produced a series of impressive displays for them in La Liga 2. The 19-year-old did well to earn seven assists in 34 matches for Real Sociedad last season in multiple competitions.

At the moment, the talented teenager is among the best young left-backs in his homeland. Hence, it is no surprise that Man United are showing interest in luring him to Old Trafford this off-season.

His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for the Red Devils to land him on the cheap in this transfer window.

What Will Salinas Bring To Manchester United?

Salinas is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and can shoot it with venom from long range.

The Spanish talent has the vision to create some promising chances for his teammates to find the back of the net and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet. Salinas is primarily a left-back but can also fill in as a centre-back if told to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Red Devils manage to snap him up this off-season.

We can expect Salinas to bring more quality and depth to Man United head coach Michael Carrick’s defence in the long run. He is already good enough to compete for regular first-team football at the Theatre of Dreams.

At 19, Salinas has the potential to be a future star in English football as long as he continues to improve with each year. Therefore, Carrick should focus on bringing him to Old Trafford this off-season.
