In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Manchester United are facing stiff competition for Barcelona ace Ferran Torres. It is understood that the Red Devils would have to rival Chelsea and Aston Villa in the race to sign the Spanish sensation later this year.

Torres’ Impressive Campaign In La Liga

Torres enjoyed a rich vein of form at the Catalan club in the previous campaign when he put in a series of eye-catching displays as the focal point of their attack. The Spanish attacker banged in 21 goals and grabbed three assists in 49 appearances for Barcelona last season in various competitions.

The 26-year-old is currently one of the best forwards in La Liga. Therefore, it is no wonder that the Red Devils are showing interest in signing him this off-season.

His current contract at the Nou Camp will run out at the end of next season, which could open the door for Man United to land him on the cheap in this summer transfer window.

Should Manchester United Boss Michael Carrick Go For Torres?

Torres is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create the odd chance for his teammates to score and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Spanish sensation has proven his worth as a decent finisher in front of the opponent’s goal. Torres is primarily a centre-forward but can also operate as a winger on either flank if needed. He already knows the Premier League well and won’t take much time to settle into life at Old Trafford if the Red Devils manage to sign him this summer.

We can expect Torres to bring more firepower to Man United head coach Michael Carrick’s attack. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Theatre of Dreams next season.

At 26, Torres has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Red Devils to pursue later this year. With all things considered, Carrick would be wise to go for a striker of the Spaniard’s quality and skill set this summer.
